Science and technology in Jamaica are in the Government agenda of sectors to stimulate. Since 1990s one of the Government goals is to help the development of technology in Jamaica. The aim is to make Jamaica a significant player in the sphere of information technology.

There are several technology groups in Jamaica: Jamaica Computer Society, Jamaica Linux User Group, ICT4D Jamaica, Library and Information Association of Jamaica (LIAJA), Container Project.

The ICT4D Jamaica is a non-profit organization. Its aim is to promote and help people understand the benefits of using information and communication technology (ICT) for social and economic development in Jamaica. Partners of the ICT4D organization are the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD) and the HEART Trust/NTA, Jamaica's national training agency.

The Container Project is non profit community multimedia centre. The main aim of the project is to provide basic computer training including digital music and video production computer repair and maintenance literacy.
